A selection of failures and achievements:
1. Throughout 2008—2010, I was co-founder of Kraftgrafik; a small design office with a focus on visual identities, branding, printed matter, and wayfinding.
2. Between 2003—2007, I apprenticed with various agencies/studios in the fields of branding, product design, tech, and publishing.
3. In 1998, at the age of 14, I read an entire 1000-page book on HTML, and had my first encounters with the internet, Adobe Photoshop, and Raygun magazine.
4. Dropped out of art school in 2003. Also wrote a letter to David Carson (which he published in his book Trek.)
5. Moved to The Netherlands to immerse myself in the land of Albert Heijn winkels in 2013. Then proceeded to fall off my bicycle during one stormy day.
6. A project I made with Marius Gottlieb and Octavia van Horik was nominated for the 2014 Chaumont Design Graphique student prize in France.
7. Learnt how to juggle multiple things whilst riding a bicycle.
8. Wrote approximately 7,500 Existential Words on Text as Image for my Bachelor’s thesis.
9. Also in 2014, I attempted to design a hoax and tried to get Erik Kessels on board.

How do we present and fit all the topics of the summit celebrating women from all walks of life? Initially I illustrated the literal nouns with pictograms but it didn’t feel right. It wasn’t connecting with the story of the summit. I was stuck, and went back to the drawing board. How do I approach this from a fun angle?
Well, I love illustrating objects. The target audience are cyclists. Illustrating the essentials cyclist bring on them on the road suddenly made a lot of sense. CW added to the idea: How about including items related to each speakers?
