Process as publication
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon in Amsterdam at Matthias Kreuzer’s studio. After 5-months of sketches and ideas, I was back at the drawing board for my main project. Matthias laid out all the sketches on the floor, and started arranging them into compositions.
He thought we could do something with them—perhaps a publication of some sort?
And so the idea for a publication was born. As my project was inspired by Wittgenstein’s thoughts on “the multiplicity of language games,” that led to the idea of using playing cards as a medium for the publication.
I compiled a selection of the process sketches and ideas, and printed them on a deck of actual playing cards.
It accompanied my final project as a process publication, and doubled as a little game of mix and match.
